Abrasive blasting entails accelerating abrasive blast material with compressed air to provide a stream of high velocity particles used to clean metal objects such as steel structures. Paragon has used a variety of recyclable and expendable abrasive materials in many different service environments. Based on the particular project, Paragon uses mil spec or AB1/AB2 certified abrasives to ensure the existing coating on the structure being rehabilitated is removed in accordance with the project specification and industry standards.
Industrial painting refers to a paint or coating that is used for the protection of industrial structures and components. Coatings (Paint) are primarily chosen considering their protective attributes rather than their aesthetic properties, though they can provide both. The protection of steel from corrosion is integral in prolonging the life of critical infrastructure. Paragon has over 20 years of experience in applying a wide variety of coatings including, zinc, epoxy, polyurethane, polysiloxane, coal tar, vinyl, aluminum mastic and more.
Paragon employs AMPP Coating Application Specialist (CAS) certified painters to apply coatings on our projects. Additionally, Paragon uses NACE (AMPP) certified coating inspectors to ensure that all steps in the surface preparation and coating application process meet the project specification and industry standards.
Paragon has performed steel repairs on bridges and tainter gates over the years. On our more complicated projects we enlist AISC certified fabricators and erectors to perform steel repairs to produce optimal results for the Owners we serve. When working on USACE projects, we typically employ a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) on staff as head of our structural quality control staff.
Paragon engages Professional Engineers (PE) and Certified Industrial Hygienists (CIH) to develop and help implement SSPC Class 1 field containment systems on our abrasive blasting and painting projects. Our designs exceed industry and project related design criteria.
During the demolition of steel structures, General Contractors are often faced with having to have lead paint removed in the areas that are to be torch cut. For over twenty years, Paragon has worked with General Contractor’s to remove lead paint in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. From small over water crossings, to major bridges and dams, Paragon has provided lead paint removal and disposal services.
